It’s after 11pm. I want to go to bed. But I need to get at least another day into the blog.
Started the day yesterday at a Waffle House, since I’d never been to one–we don’t have them in our area of the world. Good food, great people, and the servings were decently sized. Margarine, not butter, though. Only bummer.
Saw a great church sign–“Love is service in overalls”. Nice!
Drove into Norfolk–got a picture of the immense amounts of coal that was being shipped out.
Since it was pouring rain–and I am not exaggerating–we spent most of the day at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. Very interesting–the history of the US Navy and some aquarium stuff also. We didn’t get to go on the USS Wisconsin, which is part of the museum, because of the rain. I’ve been on a ship before–no problem there.
We spent the afternoon and evening with a friend of Paul’s and his wife. What a great couple! He used to be Paul’s best friend when he was growing up, and I only briefly met them before they moved away. Paul hadn’t seen them in over 20 years.
Got along great and it was hard to say good-bye. But it was getting late.
And I will write up today’s trip to Mount Vernon and Arlington Cemetery tomorrow. I am fried…
